Teeth in a Day has a major advantage over traditional implant treatments in that you can often get a new denture on the same day as the implant surgery. However, your implants will still need time to join with your jawbone, so you’ll need to be careful about what you eat or drink during this period. The following post can give you an idea of what your diet will look like after Teeth in a Day surgery.

First One to Two Weeks

At the beginning of the Teeth in a Day recovery process, your mouth and jaw will be somewhat sore, which can make it hard to chew your food. As such, you’ll need to adopt a liquid-only diet that makes chewing unnecessary. Obviously, this means drinking plenty of water. Other good choices include milkshakes, yogurt drinks, smoothies, gelatin, pudding, and meal replacement shakes like Special K.

Try to drink only cool liquids for the first couple of days after the surgery. You can have hot drinks once the bleeding in your mouth has stopped. Also, you should avoid using a straw during the initial healing process. Doing so could loosen the blood clots protecting the surgical sites; if they’re completely dislodged, it could disrupt the healing process.

After the First Two Weeks

Your mouth will start to feel better after a couple of weeks, but your implants will still need more time to form a lasting bond with the jawbone via osseointegration. This process can take several months, and during that time you need to avoid exposing the posts to excessive amounts of pressure.

Thus, while osseointegration is taking place, you should continue to avoid hard, chewy, or crunchy foods. However, there are plenty of soft foods that you can enjoy instead. Applesauce, soft bread, cheese, eggs, chili, yogurt, mashed potatoes, pancakes, and soft tofu are all great examples of foods that your implants will be able to tolerate at this stage.

After Osseointegration

Once osseointegration is complete, your new teeth will have chewing power that’s on par with your natural teeth. That means you won’t have to worry about any more diet restrictions; you can eat whatever you want! Of course, you should still be wary of hard or sticky foods, as they can still damage your implants and the restoration they support if you’re not careful.

If you’re not sure what’s okay for you to eat after getting Teeth in a Day implants in Roselle Park, talk to your dentist. They’ll be able to give you more suggestions about what you can eat and drink while recovering; work with them to plan a diet that will keep your new smile safe until it’s ready to stand up to the daily rigors of biting and chewing.
