Get to Know Dr. Thomas Kim
Born and raised in New York, Dr. Kim was the first in his family to graduate from high school and go onto completing higher level education. Dr. Kim graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Biochemistry, minoring in Psychology, and furthered his education by receiving his M.S. in Oral Health Sciences at Boston University School of Medicine and his D.M.D. at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He loves the East Coast and has no interest in leaving except for the occasional thirst for travel and adventure.
Dr. Kim has a long history with dentistry as he was first exposed to the profession during his teen years at overseas missionary programs with his home church and medical mission programs such as Global Brigades. His early exposure to dentistry and the sciences also sparked an interest in research. Dr. Kim, along with his colleagues, studied how different ways of loading an implant and different sizes affect stress distribution on the implant and its surrounding tissue. Dr. Kim presented their research at the 39th North East Bioengineering Conference held in Syracuse, NY. Learning the science behind dentistry was only one piece of the puzzle and his desire to learn the clinical aspect of dentistry was fulfilled through shadowing general dentists and specialists, and working as an assistant for 2 years.
Dr. Kim takes pride in his long and arduous journey of becoming a dentist. He has high expectations for himself to provide the highest standard of care for his patients. He welcomes patients that suffer from dental phobia and anxiety. Dr. Kim believes that there is never an end to learning and continues to research and learn about modern techniques and technology.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Kim loves traveling, looking for good pizza, fitness, and playing sports. You can see him out on the golf courses in the Summer, and on the mountains snowboarding in the Winter.
