End of the Year Insurance Reminder – Less than Two Months Left!

November 4, 2019

As a friendly reminder, if you have dental work you’ve put on hold, now is a good time to schedule an appointment to maximize your insurance benefits.

Even if you don’t need extensive treatment, you should schedule a regular checkup and cleaning appointment to help prevent costly procedures in the future.

You’re probably paying a monthly premium to keep your insurance, so be sure to use it before the year end!

It is also a great time to use any remaining flexible account dollars you may have saved up. Flexible accounts are created to set aside pre-tax dollars for medical and dental expenses, but if that money is not used before the end of the year, it is lost to you forever.

Our holiday season does book quickly, so call us today at (908) 998-4698 or visit roselleparkdental.com to schedule your appointment. If you have any questions about your insurance coverage or benefits, we would be happy to help you. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Teaching Kids About Caring for Their TEETH!

April 24, 2019

Dr. Oshidar recently visited his daughter Arianna’s preschool class to teach the kids all about how to take care of their teeth!

It’s never too early to start teaching kids about the importance of good dental care. While children aren’t able to brush and floss their teeth independently until approximately Kindergarten or 1st grade, preschoolers are eager to start figuring out how to do things on their own. Learning about good oral hygiene habits at a young age – including brushing and flossing – sets children up for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums!

Make It FUN! Young children learn best through play, so when teaching them about dental care make it a game. Give them educational pictures to color, sing songs while they are brushing, and teach them about plaque and decay using playdough or paint. Another great tool is to let your preschooler play with the Colgate Tooth Fairy app which includes a game that makes defending teeth against bacteria fun. It also includes a tooth map for showing your child where teeth are coming through or have been lost.

Let Them Be In Charge. Preschoolers love to feel empowered through choice. Letting them pick out which color toothbrush they want and what flavor toothpaste they use will make them excited to brush their teeth. Also, consider getting them a special timer that they can use while brushing to ensure they brush for the full two minutes.

Model Good Behavior. Children look to their parents’ and caregivers’ behavior to determine how they should act. So the best way to ensure they grow up being proactive about their dental health is to model the habits you want them to adopt. If they see you brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash each morning and night, they are more likely to do so themselves. Better yet: make dental care a family affair and have a tooth brushing pajama party altogether each night!

Dr. Oshidar Gifted a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Dedication Brick

February 5, 2019

In addition to being an excellent dentist and an expert in the field of implant dentistry, Dr. Oshidar has a huge heart. When you mention kids to him – especially his own – he just melts. For the past few years, he has donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: an organization that helps sick children and supports their families during their illness.

So for his holiday gift this year, the Roselle Park Dental & Implants staff collectively purchased Dr. Oshidar a dedication brick from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The brick was engraved, and will be placed on the hospital’s “Pathway of Hope” in Tennessee.

St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80%. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because they believe all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

What is your favorite sport?
I love watching boxing, football and international soccer. If dancing qualifies as a sport, then polka dancing is a favorite as well. I was once a member of a Polish folk dancing troupe! Fishing is also a favorite sport/hobby!

Have you ever had a favorite pet?
My stepson and his wife have a rescue dog named Koda. She is part Labrador retriever and part Alaskan malamute. Koda is the most gentle and loving dog I have ever met. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her immediately!

What is your favorite activity when you aren’t working?
Relaxing! My family and work keeps me very busy 🙂

Why did you choose to become a dental professional?
For 20 years, I worked as a filing representative for an architectural firm in Brooklyn, obtaining approvals and permits for construction. But “teeth” have always been fascinating to me. It was a mid-life decision to begin taking night classes in preparation for a new career. Once I was accepted into the dental hygiene program, everything fell into place and a new and rewarding phase in my life began – a decision I have never regretted!

Dr. Oshidar and Dr. Rodriguez are officially certified LANAP providers! Saving lives one tooth at a time!!!

An FDA-cleared laser treatment, LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) is the newest innovation in treating gum disease, allowing for the targeted removal of diseased periodontal tissue without removing any surrounding healthy tissue.

Why Choose LANAP? Have you refused treatment out of fear? Or is there a chance you might have gum disease and do not even know it?

  • Gum Disease affects 85% of US Adults 40% of whom don’t even know they have gum disease.
  • Only 3% of those with moderate to severe gum disease accept traditional treatment.

LANAP equals Laser Assisted Regeneration (LAR). The LANAP protocol offers a less painful, more successful treatment alternative to conventional surgery. LANAP=LAR is the only scientifically, research proven methodology that results in true periodontal regeneration, new bone growth, and gum tissue reattachment.

The LANAP=LAR treatment is one – of the most successful protocols in treating gum disease because it can:

  • Target the source of the inflammation without hurting or removing any healthy gum tissue
  • Slow or stop attachment loss and decrease pocket depth
  • Allow the body to recover from the chronic infection without the need for scalpel or sutures

We are so excited to offer LANAP at Roselle Park Dental! Learn more on our Website at www.roselleparkdental.com or call us today at 908-998-4698 to find out if LANAP is right for you.
